Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice began working together soon after they met in Los Angeles in 2005. Lewis was working on her solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat, while Rice was working on his own recording debut and the duo ended up playing on each other’s records. In 2006 Rice joined Lewis’ band for her world tour and has played live with Lewis for every show of her solo career since then. They continued working together on their respective solo albums and even collaborated on Elvis Costello’s Momofuku after he worked with them on Lewis’ track “Carpetbaggers.” While touring together to support Lewis’ Acid Tongue the duo found themselves writing songs that didn’t fit into either of their catalogs, but would serve better as a side project. Rice and Lewis recorded their Jenny & Johnny debut, I’m Having Fun Now, over the winter of 2009 and released the album the following August. The straight to tape recording of their live show at Third Man Records on September 26, 2010 is available in the Third Man Records Store now.
